Since the indroduction of the new United Kingdom Passport in October 2010 there are several new security features, e.g. a chip, watermark, biographical page and a secondary image – all covered in a new design theme.
These new features were nessesary to “ensure that the UK passport remains a highly secure and trusted document meeting rigorous international standards”, as the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) announced.
